Duran Atkins

Duran Atkins grew up in California and studied Business at Fresno State University. In 1979, to escape the city, she moved to Yosemite National Park. There she discovered her love of outdoor adventure and began her career path working as a Group Tour Specialist and then Office Manager at Badger Pass Ski Resort for Yosemite Park & Curry Company. It was in this magical setting that Duran met Philip and their mutual dream to create a business in the adventure travel industry began to blossom. Their dream took them and their growing family to several of the most beautiful locations in the United States: Yosemite, California; Moab, Utah; and Bozeman, Montana.

From 1984-92, Duran managed several small businesses in the outdoor adventure industry: Crosscut guest ranch and cross-country ski resort; Mountain Air Sports in Bozeman, Nichols Expeditions; Canyon Country B&B; and Poison Spider Bikes in Moab. By 1992 she was working full time with Philip on developing and running Global Expeditions, Inc.

The motto at Global Expeditions, Inc. is that whenever a client asks us if we can do the job, we say yes, and then figure out the best way to make it successful. This has lead to a variety of exciting projects for Global including; work in film and photo, and projects for companies such Philip Morris and Disney. Along with a partner company, International Management Group (IMG), Duran and Philip helped create and operate a program credited with earning over $5 billion for their client. Through Abercrombie & Kent, Ltd., Duran and Philip were instrumental in handling projects throughout the western US and creating and implemented private vacations for many elite celebrities from around the Globe.

Duran continues to enjoy the challenge of growing a family and business, along with devotion to her love of travel, outdoor activities, and being an active volunteer in many areas of the community.
